Welcome to the Lawrence L. Lee Scouting Museum Virtual Tour!
Explore our 30-minute virtual tour to get a comprehensive overview of our collection. The Tour also provides specific information that will fulfill the first four requirements of the Scouting Heritage Merit Badge. This tour is available to all Scouts, whether you’re part of the Daniel Webster Council or from another council, and can now be used to earn SHMB by “remote control”, from anywhere in the world! Please see the “Merit Badge Programs” page for full details.
This tour is an excellent introduction to our collection and story for Scouts, Scouters, and the general public who may not be able to visit in person.
Our Communications Director, Mr. Joe Biedrzycki, hosts this video, produced with the expertise of the Daniel Webster Council staff. It debuted in the summer of 2020 as part of that year’s virtual summer program.
Enjoy the virtual tour, and we look forward to helping you earn your Scouting Heritage Merit Badge!
How to Earn the Scouting Heritage Merit Badge Virtually
Note: Merit badges are not available to Cub Scouts. This program is for members of Scouts BSA.
- Get a Blue Card: Obtain a Blue Card signed by your Scoutmaster.
- Contact Us: Email Joe Biedrzycki at communications@scoutingmuseum.org, expressing your interest in earning the “Scouting Heritage Merit Badge (SHMB)”.
- Prepare Your Materials:
- Print the Scouting Heritage Merit Badge Worksheet.
- Read the Scouting Heritage Merit Badge booklet. If the online booklet is incomplete, you can purchase a copy at the Scout Shop at Camp Carpenter or your usual scouting supply store.
- Watch the Video: View the virtual tour video and record the necessary facts in your worksheet.
- Schedule a Review: Once prepared, contact Mr. B. again to set up a review with a registered SHMB Counselor. We have six counselors on the all-volunteer staff of the Scouting Museum.
- Complete the Requirements: Discuss and explain what you have learned with your assigned counselor. Remember, this merit badge is interactive; watching the video alone won’t complete it.
- Please note: Requirements 5, 6, 7, and 8 require independent work or collaboration with your local unit resources or personnel. If you have any questions, ask Mr. B. or your counselor.
IMPORTANT YOUTH PROTECTION GUIDELINES
- All emails to Scouts and counselors must be cc’d to another adult (parent, Scoutmaster, or committee member).
- All Zoom meetings must be attended and monitored by another adult present with the Scout.
